  • Jessica Biel Heads Back to TV in Crime Thriller ‘The Sinner’

Tiffany & Co. Gala - Arrivals
“7th Heaven,” but that may finally be about to change.

The actress is set to star in “The Sinner,” a crime thriller that USA Network has picked up to pilot. Not surprisingly, her new TV project sounds very different from the saccharine family drama that made her famous in the 1990s. In fact, “The Sinner” sounds like the polar opposite of “7th Heaven.”

The plot centers on a young mother who commits a terrible act of public violence in a fit of rage that not even she understands. She’ll find an unlikely ally in an investigator who is determined to discover why she did it. We don’t expect many family meetings or group hugs, but it definitely sounds compelling.

The story is based on German crime writer Petra Hammesfahr’s novel of the same name, with the pilot being adapted by Derek Simonds (“The Astronaut Wives Club”). Antonio Campos has signed on to direct, while Biel will executive produce alongside both Simonds and Campos as well as her production partner Michelle Purple.

  • Happy Hogan to Join Tony Stark in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Premiere Of Warner Bros. Pictures' "The Nice Guys" - ArrivalsTony Stark won’t have to be parted from his driver, bodyguard, and close friend Happy Hogan when he appears in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

Actor Jon Favreau is reportedly set to reprise his “Iron Man” role in the upcoming Sony and Marvel film, according to Variety. With Robert Downey, Jr. already lined up to bring Stark and his superhero alter ego, Iron Man, to the superhero flick, it makes sense for Favreau to come along for the ride. The two will join Tom Holland as the young actor headlines his first MCU movie.

Holland already had plenty of support as it was, given that the cast includes Donald Glover, Zendaya, Logan Marshall-Green, and Tony Revolori. Still, it’s always fun to see another familiar face, especially a Marvel vet like Favreau. In addition to playing Hogan, he also helmed “Iron Man” and “Iron Man 2.”

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is currently shooting in Atlanta with Jon Watts directing. The film is due out in theaters on July 7, 2017.

  • The ‘American Horror Story’ Season 6 Theme May Have Leaked

FX and the “American Horror Story” team have gone to great pains to keep the Season 6 theme under wraps, but it seems that their efforts may have been thwarted by two unfortunate errors.

After differing key art and multiple promos were released to throw fans off the scent, two slip-ups may have ended the mystery. Fans took note earlier this week when Rotten Tomatoes had Season 6 of the horror anthology listed as “American Horror Story: The Mist,” reports Entertainment Weekly. The movie and TV website reportedly removed the subtitle, but it wasn’t fast enough to end speculation.

If it had just been one instance, we could have written it off as an error, but shortly thereafter, a Reddit user shared a screenshot of a recent “TV Guide,” and it also listed the show as “American Horror Story: The Mist.”

AHS titled revealed in TV Guide? This is in their schedule in the latest issue.

It would be a pretty strange coincidence for both Rotton Tomatoes and “TV Guide” to incorrectly use the wrong theme, but who knows? Maybe it is all part of the ruse.

FX hasn’t responded to the possible leak so far, so we may not find out the theme for sure until “American Horror Story” Season 6 premieres on Sept. 14. You can prepare yourself for the possibility by watching the creepy “Mist” promo, released in August, below:[via: Entertainment Weekly]

  • ‘Big Brother: Over the Top’ Gets Premiere Date

Big BrotherThe digital edition of “Big Brother” is coming soon, and CBS Interactive has finally revealed its name and premiere date.

Fittingly, the original series is called “Big Brother: Over the Top,” a title the refers both to the level of drama we can anticipate (fingers crossed!) and the fact that it is delivered to viewers online. The show will only be available for viewing on CBS All Access, the network’s streaming service.

As for its premiere date, “Big Brother: Over the Top” will begin streaming on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10 p.m. ET. Fans of the franchise will get an all-new cast of Houseguests, who will move into the “Big Brother” house for a 10-week season that will be full of scheming, conflict, and evictions. This time around, we can look forward to the introduction of new ways to interact with the crazy competition.

“With the unique streaming format, not only will viewers get to see everything play out live, including ceremonies and competitions, but the audience will also participate in the show like never before,” said Executive Producer Allison Grdoner in a statement. “Each week will offer unprecedented interactive opportunities that will have an immediate impact on the game.”

The shake-up will be exciting, but we’ll be happy to see at least one familiar element when we tune in to watch the Houseguests fight to stay in the house: Julie Chen is returning as host.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2: At Least 3 New Characters Coming

While “Stranger Things” Season 1 brought goodbyes for some characters, the Netflix series’ much-anticipated Season 2 is saying hello to at least three new ones.

With Season 2’s renewal finally confirmed — much to the delight of fans — the supernatural show’s creative team has wasted no time in trying to fill new roles. The new additions will be “really, really intriguing,” in the words of executive producer Shawn Levy. We’d expect nothing less.

“There’s definitely a handful of really compelling new characters this season, but absolutely servicing the core group first and foremost,” Levy told THR.

The publication gained insight on three of the “Stranger Things” newbies through a casting breakdown. The trio will reportedly consist of a tough and confident 13-year-old tomboy named Max; a 17-year-old, Camaro-driving bad boy named Billy; and an outsider named Roman, who could be played by either a man or a woman. He or she is said to be bad at connecting with others and seeking revenge.

The group definitely sounds interesting and their interactions do, too. While it’s not clear how Roman is connected to Max and Billy, the two kids are step-siblings with a complicated relationship. Any bad blood is presumably made worse by the fact that the older teen is said to be “violent and unpredictable.” Apparently, that side of Billy has a tendency to come out around those he knows well — particularly when they’re younger (ahem, like Max is).

The three newcomers will join us in Hawkins during the fall of 1984, a year after the events of the first season. By then, the townspeople will have been lulled into a false sense of security, only to have it shattered when more terrifying supernatural forces emerge.

“Stranger Things” will continue to frighten and delight with nine episodes in 2017.

  • Watch Rob Lowe Spoof His ’80s Sex Tape for Roast Promo

The Comedy Central Roast Of Rob Lowe - ArrivalsIt’s not every person who is able to look back on their sex tape and laugh, but Rob Lowe is apparently one of the ones who can. With the “Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe” fast approaching, the actor starred in a new promo that parodies his infamous ’80s tape.

Shot in what looks like a hotel room, the promo stars Lowe in all his naked — and blurred out — glory. We see the actor from the perspective of an amateur video camera as he sets it up. He then turns and heads to the bed, where he begins to make beautiful music … with his saxophone. This is a sax tape, not a sex tape, people.Jokes about the “Parks and Recreation” alum’s tape aren’t exactly new anymore, but there is plenty more to look forward to when the “Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe” airs on Monday, Sept. 5. Filmed this past weekend, David Spade served up burns as roastmaster, joined on the dais by celebrities like Peyton Manning, Rob Riggle, and Ann Coulter.

  • ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 13 Brings New Romance for Arizona

ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" - Season TwelveThere’s plenty of love and relationship drama to go around at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, and we can expect some to head Arizona’s way in “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 13.

Arizona (played by Jessica Capshaw) didn’t get her fairy tale ending with Callie, and now that her ex has jumped ship for New York, it is the perfect time for a new love interest to appear on the scene. “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes recently told Entertainment Weekly that the peds surgeon will explore a new romance in the upcoming season.

“I’m very excited to introduce a love interest for her, and to get to tell a story with her that lets her be who she is, and to see who she is post the relationships that she’s had,” said Rhimes.

Arizona will be absent for the first two episodes because Capshaw took time off to parent, but after she returns, the fun begins. Rhimes didn’t reveal specifics about Arizona’s new romantic prospect, but she did indicate that the character will be introduced carefully.

“You don’t want to just stick two people together,” Rhimes told EW. “I want to do it organically and I want the audience to be rooting for it. So I think we’re going to have fun with it.”

The aftermath of Arizona’s complicated relationship with Callie will be a factor, of course. They do still have a daughter together and will continue to co-parent, albeit at a distance.

We’ll see how this new person fits into the doctor’s life after Season 13 premieres on Sept. 22 on ABC.

  • ‘Scream Queens’ First Look: Season 2 Gets Scarier, Funnier

When you move from a sorority house to a hospital, things are bound to get scarier, and that will be the case in “Scream Queens” Season 2, according to a new first look video. Luckily, the funny factor will be ratcheted up, too.

Fox released the preview Wednesday, offering insight into the upcoming season with clips as well as interviews with members of the comedy horror series’ cast, including returning stars Lea Michele, Emma Roberts, and Keke Palmer, and newcomers Taylor Lautner and John Stamos. They promised a hilarious second season, one that will also be darker and push more boundaries.

When “Scream Queens” returns, we’ll get to see the Chanels take on medical school at a hospital bought by Jamie Lee Curtis‘ character, Cathy Munsch. That is scary in itself, but just wait till people start “dropping like flies,” as Michele says.

“Scream Queens” Season 2 premieres on Fox on Sept. 20.

  • Science Rules: Bill Nye Is Getting His Own Netflix Talk Show

AOL Build Presents Bill Nye Discusses The #FindYourPark Series With The National Park Service

Netflix is continuing its apparent quest to let us relive our childhood in our adulthood. First it was “Fuller House,” and now it is a new Bill Nye (aka the “Science Guy”) talk show.

The streamer announced today that everyone’s favorite TV scientist will host his own talk show, “Bill Nye Saves the World,” starting in spring 2017. Naturally, the show will take advantage of Nye’s background in science, engineering, and inventing — not to mention millennials’ nostalgia for hours spent watching “Bill Nye the Science Guy” in the ’90s. In each episode, Nye will examine different topics through the lens of science, debunking myths and common false claims along the way.

“I’m excited to be working with Netflix on a new show, where we’ll discuss the complex scientific issues facing us today, with episodes on vaccinations, genetically modified foods and climate change,” said Bill Nye in a press release. “With the right science and good writing, we’ll do our best to enlighten and entertain our audience. And, perhaps we’ll change the world a little.”

Whether he changes the world a little or actually saves it as the title suggests, the talk show will be an interesting one to watch. Nye isn’t just going to talk — he’ll demonstrate science in action and have special guests as he proves to us once again that “science rules” in his fun and quirky way.

  • Demi Moore Signs up for Crazy Weekend in ‘Rock That Body’

Demi Moore at Vogue 100 FestivalA bachelorette party goes off the rails in “Rock That Body,” and Demi Moore is going to be along for the ride.

The actress has joined the Sony Pictures R-rated comedy, which means that she’ll share the screen with a host of funny women. “Rock That Body” stars Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, and Zoe Kravitz as a group of five friends whose bachelorette weekend in Miami gets a little too crazy. Think “Bridesmaids,” if they hadn’t gotten kicked off that plane.

Details haven’t been revealed about Moore’s role, but she stepped in just in time; the film began shooting last week. “Rock That Body” is directed by Lucia Aniello, who co-wrote the script with Paul W. Downs. Like Aniello, Downs is pulling double duty, but he’ll be in front of the camera as a member of the cast instead of behind it.

“Rock That Body” is slated for release on June 23, 2017.
