The most underrated film in Zemeckis’ career is his second one, an R-rated farce about a huckster (Kurt Russell) who helps a struggling car dealer (Jack Warden) outsell his underhanded twin brother. The climax, involving a massive convoy of jalopies, hints at the logistical challenges Zemeckis would set for himself and master in future films. But he’d never be this raunchy, loose, or sharply satirical again.
